UISCE Éireann is urging people in Clare to continue conserving water as supplies remain under pressure amid ongoing warm and dry conditions.
Water supplies are being closely monitored in the county, with tankering operations ongoing in Carran and Crusheen.
A nationwide Water Conservation Order remains in place until August 26 following a prolonged period of exceptionally warm and dry weather, combined with high demand for water.
Uisce Éireann said conservation efforts by customers have helped to reduce demand in many areas, but several water sources remain under pressure.
The appeal comes as Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow High Temperature Warning for parts of the country, with higher temperatures expected to increase demand for water in the coming days.
Uisce Éireann Operations Manager Darragh Conneely said customers’ efforts to conserve water were helping to protect supplies.
“However, many of our water sources remain under pressure following an extended period of warm and dry weather and it will take time for those sources to recover,” he said.
“With warm conditions expected to continue and temperatures set to rise again in parts of the country, we are asking everyone to continue doing what they can to conserve water.”
People are being asked to avoid non-essential water use and to take simple steps such as taking shorter showers, fixing leaking taps and toilets, fully loading dishwashers and washing machines, and using a watering can instead of a hose or sprinkler.
Uisce Éireann said it is also taking measures to protect supplies, including maximising water production, repairing leaks and managing network pressures.
The Water Conservation Order is being reviewed on an ongoing basis, taking into account weather conditions, soil moisture deficits and the status of water supplies.
