Temperatures are predicted to plummet to as low as -2°C in County Clare this week.

Met Éireann has issued a week-long weather advisory for the entire country, as the cold snap begins and continues throughout this week with temperatures well below the national average for November (6-11 degrees celsius).

A yellow low temperature / ice weather warning will come into effect in Clare from 8pm on Tuesday evening until 10am on Wednesday morning. The ice warning will again come into effect on Wednesday night at 8pm until Thursday morning at 10am.

The national weather advisory will remain in place until midnight on Saturday, November 23.

The drop in temperature will come as quite a shock to many due to the mild weather experienced this November.

Wintry hazards including frost and ice are likely with potential for sleet and hail for some. Road users are advised to be extra vigilant  in these treacherous road  conditions .People are advised to follow and keep updated with Met Eireann’s forecast and take precautions against the hazardous conditions in this significant change in weather.
