*Photograph: Gary Collins A JUDGE has warned the parents of a Co Clare school-shy boy that they face jail after commenting that their son “has been missing from school for most of his life”.
*The matter came before the Family Law Court. A JUDGE has requested TUSLA staff to do a welfare check at the home of two children who haven’t been to school since March as he wants “to know that they are alive”.
*It is the fourth child of this couple to be taken into State care. TUSLA, the Child and Family Agency (CFA) is to seek a full care order until the age of 18 for a new born baby boy who was effectively abandoned at the maternity hospital by his mother four days after his birth.
*The comments were made in the Family Law Court. A JUDGE has stated that he is “terrified” that a 17-year old boy in State care “who can barely boil an egg” will end up in emergency accommodation in a hotel on reaching his 18th birthday next month.
*Registered letters sent to the couple are bouncing back. A new-born baby boy effectively abandoned last month when his mother discharged herself from a regional maternity hospital is ’thriving’ in his foster placement, a court has heard.
