Senior officials in Clare County Council are reluctant to give “any commitments we can’t stand over” when it comes to engaging full-time lifeguards at coastal locations.
Extra seasonal staff have commenced work at coastal locations across the county this weekend.
All nine Blue Flag beaches in Clare have retained their status for 2021.
Between €10,000 to €15,000 per week is projected to be spent by Clare County Council in providing additional resources to coastal amenities to cope with a forecasted staycation surge.

It may not have been the 125th anniversary that they initially envisaged but Spanish Point Golf Club are eager to make the most of the quasquicentennial milestone from the end of April.
