BATHING RESTRICTIONS HAVE been lifted at Spanish Point and White Strand, Miltown Malbay.

On Thursday afternoon, Clare County Council lifted the bathing prohibitions at Spanish Point and White Strand.

This followed additional investigative water sampling and further advice from the HSE.

In accordance with An Taisce’s Blue Flag programme, the Blue Flags at both bathing areas will be reinstated.

A red flag notice had been in place for three days at both of the beaches in West Clare after exceptionally heavy rainfall and subsequent run-off from the catchment resulted in elevated levels of bacteria being identified in the water.
