Bathing restrictions have been lifted at two of the four Clare beaches where a swimming ban had been issued.

On Thursday evening, Clare County Council confirmed to The Clare Echo that all bathing restrictions at White Strand in Doonbeg and White Strand in Miltown Malbay have been lifted with immediate effect.

The announcement follows consultation with the HSE.

Swimming bans remain in place at Kilkee and Quilty. “There is ongoing monitoring at these locations, and Clare County Council is in consultation with the HSE,” a spokesperson confirmed.

Elected representatives have highlighted the importance of the beaches being entirely accessible to the public over the August Bank Holiday weekend.
