Stuart Holly: Editor

in Meet the Team by

Stuart Holly is the editor and co-founder of The Clare Echo.
An Ennis native, Stuart developed an early love for journalism in St Flannan’s where he questioned everything his teachers said.
After obtaining a journalism degree in Dublin, Stuart interned at The Evening Herald. Even then, his unnecessarily loud phone interviews were an indication that he would one day become an obnoxious newspaper editor. After landing his first job in the Irish Daily Mail, Stuart worked in newspaper production with the Independent Group and in Auckland, New Zealand before a lengthy spell as a pun-spewing sub-editor at the Irish Daily Star.
But Stuart’s heart belongs in Clare and he returned to The Banner County in 2015, where he took up employment as a news reporter with The Clare People.
A former Ennis rugby player, Stuart still talks about his try-scoring record from last season, when he crossed the line a whopping two times. When not at his desk Stuart can be found teaching his dog Leo tricks or declaring his love for hurler Shane O’Donnell.
