A STRONG second half showing saw Clare begin their division 2 B camogie league campaign with victory over Wexford at Enniscorthy on Saturday afternoon.

Clare 0-13
Wexford 0-9
Venue: Enniscorthy

Behind by three points at half time, Clare confined the home side to just two points in the second half while scoring nine themselves.

Forced into two changes prior to throw in with the selected centre back Ellen Casey from Newmarket-on-Fergus and corner forward Danielle Beston from Scariff/Ogonnelloe replaced by Scariff/Ogonnelloe duo Rachael Minogue and Labhaoise O’Donnell, Clare struggled in the opening half.

Changes to the forward line for the second half helped the visitors to get the upperhand and they drove on to victory.

Full forward Aisling Cooney top scored for Clare with 0-9, six from placed balls as the Banner outfit drove on to a merited win. Other scorers on the day were Jennifer Daly, Caoimhe Cahill and Danielle Beston.

They will be back in action on Saturday when they will entertain Tipperary at Meelick in round 2.

This will be a repeat of last year’s All-Ireland junior final which Clare won and they will be hoping to repeat that success.
