Seniors Captain Sean Howard, Junior Boys Captain Justin Mc Grath, Captain Kieran Dromey, Lady Captain Mary Mc Namara, Junior Girls Captain Lara Kelly, President Ollie Mc Namara at the Woodstock Drive into office on Sunday.

The Spring league continued at Woodstock at the weekend when the competition format was a rumble.

The winners, with 95 points, were Kieran Quinn, Pat O’Brien, Pat McMahon and Ray Grogan.

In second place with 89 points were Johnny Clune, Sean Williams, Cathal Clune and Bryan Clune followed by Kieran Dromey, Barry McNicholl, Seamus Kelly and Jarlath Fahy with 87 points.

Last week’s rumble winners lead the way after three rounds with 175.6. TShey are followed by Jason Dormer, Paul and Tony Coote and Ollie McNamara with 168.9. In third spot with 168.8 are Ray, Eddie and Stephen Casey and Frank McEnery and they are followed by Johnnie, Cathal and Bryan Clune and Seam Williams.

The league continues this weekend with round 4 when the format will be modified fourball (pick the best drive and play your own ball from there to the hole).

A similar competition took place for club members not involved in the Spring league and the winners here were Barry Scanlan, John Baker, Aaron Lavery and Michael Ensko with 86 points. There will be a modified fourball for those not involved in the Spring league, this weekend.

Woodstock will host an open team of four scramble for ladies and men on this Thursday and Friday and all funds raised will go to the Ennis Lions club to aid the victims of the war in Ukraine.

The Costello Cup, an inter club competition between Ennis and Woodstock, will take place on Saturday and Sunday week (March 26 and 27). The deadline for entering is this Sunday. There will be no Spring league that weekend because of the Costello cup fixture which takes place in Ennis.

The winners of the Woodstock seniors outing on Tuesday were Pat Barry, Willie Thompson and Brendan Arthur with an impressive score of 50 points.

Ennis Golf Club:

Last week’s ladies 14 hole stableford competition at Ennis was won by Florence Coffey (34) with 30 points. She was followed by Joan Murphy (32) with 28 points, Eileen Holly (39) with 28 points, Noreen Courtney (24)with 26 points, Bridie Hanrahan (20) with 26 points and Suzanne Deane (19) with 26 points.

In the 9 hole competition, Bridie Hanrahan (34) won with 19 points from Nuala D’Auria (35) with 16 points and Florence Coffey (24) with 15 points.

The senior ladies outing on March 4 was won by Helen Hartnett, Kathleen Pyne, Loretto Torpey with 34 points from Mary Glynn, Eileen J Corry and Joan Murphy with 32 points with third spot filled by Nuala D’Auria, Liz Kelly and Claire Kennelly with 30 points.

Last week’s senior ladies outing was won by Ann Kelly, Loretto Torpey and Margaret Flanagan with 54.6 from Joan Murphy, Peig Cleary and Kathleen Pyne with 57.8 while third spot was filled by Helen Hartnett, Liz Kellym and Ann Daly with 58.7.

Kilrush Golf Club:

In the Spring singles at Kilrush the winner was Dominic Enright (16) with 34 points from Michael Twomey (12) with 29 points. In third spot was Andrew Egan (12) with 27 points followed by Michael Miniter (10) with 26 points with fifth spot filled by Terry O’Hare (8) with 26 points.

Portumna Golf Club:

The drive in by the president and captains at Portumna golf club took place last weekend. A 9 hole scramble was held in conjunction with the drive in by Dagmar Ulrich Werner (President). Gene McEntee, (Mens captain) and Sharon Heenan (lady captain).

The 9 hole scramble played overs the front 9 was won by Eamon Dervan (+1), Philip Madden, (18) and Rita Hodgins (49) with 28.4 from Pat Quinlan (6), Pierce O Shiel (16) and Ann C Carty (34) with 29.4.

The competition over the back 9 was won by Ger Lynch (3), Pat Mulvihill (18) and Fidelma Gordon (39) with 26 from Mark Hoary (2), Denis Hackett (21) and Carmel Whelan (40) with 26.7.

Sixmilebridge Golf Society:

Adam O’Halloran was the winners of the Sixmilebridge golf society’s first outing of the 2022 season which took place to Ennis on Saturday. Brian Murphy was in second place followed by Adam Merriman with Chris Wason in fourth spot. The nines were won by Barry Deasy and Joe Murphy.

Shannon Golf Club:

Last week’s 18 holes singles competition at Shannon was won by Gerard McKee (21) with 43 points, In second place with 40 points was Robert Kelly (12) and the gross was won by Adam McMahon (6) with 33 points.

The winter league was won by team Power on 305points with team McGinley in second place on 292 points.

This week’s competition will be the March medal sponsored by Brian Gleeson Goldsmiths
