Spanish Point swimmers not alone braved the elements when heading for their Christmas Day dip but also showcased the generosity that the festive season is all about by donating to West Clare Cancer Care Centre.

A total of €776.90 was raised with Christmas Day swimmers donating €5 with members of Snámhai Sasta also chipping in prior to December 25th in an attempt to assist the West Clare Cancer Care Centre. The Spanish Point dip was done in conjunction with the annual Whitestrand swim which is organised by Tony Cogan.

Lorna Cahill was one of the swimmers in Spanish Point, the Miltown Malbay woman explained to The Clare Echo. “We all felt the Christmas day swim was a great opportunity to join up with Tony as cancer has and currently is affecting so many people in our community. The West Clare cancer centre is an organisation which has provided counselling and other services to many in our locality”.
