Ennis’ Dean Casey recorded a sixth place finish in the final of the men’s 5000m final at the U20 European Championships.
Casey finished sixth in a time of 14.40.74 ahead of fellow Irish men Abdel Laadjel (Donore Harriers) in eleventh place in a time of 14.50.07 and Callum Morgan (St. Malachy’s AC) who was home in twenty first spot with a time of 15.15.52.
Dean is only the second Irish Junior to record a time under fourteen minutes in this distance, his sixth place finish is the latest achievement to a very promising career. The Ennis track athlete is trained by Pat Hogan.
