A Clare soccer club has announced that one of its members have tested positive for COVID-19.

On Friday evening, Shannon Hibernians confirmed that an adult player who is a member of the club tested positive for COVID-19 last weekend.

All footballing activities in the club were suspended as a precautionary measure. Personnel including players and management that had been in contact with the confirmed case have been tested and returned negative results.

After receiving advice from the HSE, Shannon Hibs have been given the go-ahead to return to action on Saturday.

“We have been in regular contact with the player, he’s having his good days (and his) bad days. Everyone at Shannon Hibs wishes him a speedy recovery,” a club statement read.
