SCARIFF BAY Community Radio (SBCR) will be holding their annual church gate collection this weekend across East Clare.
Before all masses in the East Clare area, SBCR will be collecting money as part of their annual church gate collection on Saturday August 15th and Sunday August 16th.
“Your contribution would be appreciated as it is a voluntary service,” Chairman of SBCR Pat O’Brien said when appealing to the public to support their continued fundraising efforts.
Last month, SBCR claimed gold at the Craol annnual achievement awards winning top accolades for programming from Scoil Samhraidh Willie Clancy, promotion of the Irish language and in-depth feature on domestic abuse.
In December, SBCR was awarded a ten-year broadcasting licence by Coimisiún na Meán. It is the first time that the community radio station signed a full-time broadcasting contract.
Run by volunteers, SBCR is also set to enter into a partnership with Clare County Council to operate their new podcast studio in the Scariff hub.
