ROAD markings at the raised crossing at Lisheen/Brú na Sionna are to be refreshed, with Clare County Council also considering new LED lighting and a driver feedback sign at the location.

The update was given at the September meeting of the Shannon Municipal District following a Notice of Motion from Cllr Tony Mulcahy (FG).

Cllr Mulcahy had requested an update on refreshing the road markings on the approach to the raised crossing and asked that the existing lights be replaced.

He also asked whether consideration could be given to installing a speed feedback sign at the location.

In a written response, A/Senior Executive Engineer with Shannon Municipal District Caimin Dillon said the road markings in the vicinity of the crossing would be refreshed.

“Shannon Municipal District will refresh the road markings in the vicinity of this road crossing,” he said.

Mr Dillon said consideration would also be given to replacing the existing lights with new LED lights.

An assessment will also be carried out to determine whether a driver feedback sign is necessary at the location.

Speaking at the meeting, Cllr Mulcahy said he was happy with the response but described the crossing as “very bad”.

Leas-Chathaoirleach of the Shannon Municipal District Cllr David Griffin (FF) seconded the motion.
