PUBLIC walkways in Ennis will be assessed to see if they require upgrades and accessibility improvements.
Cllr Pat Daly (FF) raised the issue at the July sitting of Ennis Municipal District.
At the meeting, the long serving county town representative tabled a motion asking, “Ennis MD to upgrade the footpath on the riverwalk adjacent to Ennis Tennis club down to Woodquay at Parnell Street car park”. The motion was seconded by Cllr Tom O’Callaghan (FF).
The walk is a popular recreational route for Ennis residents, running alongside the River Fergus and offering views of the Post Office Field which is famed for its rich biodiversity.
Acting Senior Executive Engineer Donagh Murph issued an official reply to the motion which stated, “An inspection and survey will be carried out over the coming weeks with a view to identifying improvements in terms of accessibility and the use of the public walkways in this area”.
Daly indicated that he was satisfied with the reply that pledged to carry out an assessment and the meeting progressed to the next item of business without discussion.
