RELOCATION of a delineation post is hoped to improve visibility for motorists at Clancy’s Cross in the Loop Head Peninsula.

Cathaoirleach of the West Clare Municipal District, Cllr Cillian Murphy (FF) requested that the sightlines at the junction on the R473 be assessed by engineers within the local authority.

Alan Kennelly, senior executive engineer in the West Clare MD outlined, “I have arranged for the green and white Junction Delineation Post to be relocated at the junction of the R-487 & L-2012-0. I hope that this will help improve visibility in the direction of the slight dip in the vertical alignment of the R-487. We can review the sightlines again after the post has been moved”.

Speaking at a recent meeting of the West Clare MD, Cllr Murphy said he recently “moved out that direction” when he came across the “deficit”. Cllr Gabriel Keating (FG) while supporting the motion, quipped to the Cathaoirleach, “remember you’re no stranger to the West”.
