SOUTH-WEST CLARE community radio station Raidió Corca Baiscinn received two Craol gold awards at the annual Féile which took place at the end of October.

A total of twenty awards have now been won by the station since 2012. The Kilkee Civic Trust Talks and the topical weekly programme, Community Unity claimed the latest accolades.

Held over the summer at Culturlann Sweeney, the Kilkee Civic Trust talks were a series of lectures. The recordings have been a regular part of the RCB programme schedule. Several members of ‘The West Clare Heritage and History Group’ shared extensively researched local historical knowledge for wider local audience and encouraging awareness of the group and attracting public participation at the event.

An outstanding submission award was given to RCB for the Community Unity show which discusses what is happening in the locality on a weekly basis.

Station manager, Mairead O’Higgins Finnegan was very pleased the work of RCB was once again recognised. “This year we also saw an influx of new people working and volunteering at the station and hitting the ground running and these awards recognise the valuable contribution everyone at the station has made to our varied and wide programme of entertaining broadcasts”.

Craol is the representative, co-ordinating, lobbying, training and support body for community radio stations in Ireland. The award categories for this year were once again divided across gold, silver and bronze.

RCB is a not for profit radio station that broadcasts between 1pm to 9pm from Monday to Friday and from 1pm to 6pm on Saturday and Sunday. RCB transmits on 92.5 and 94.8fm frequency or can be livestreamed on www.rcb.ie
