SIXMILEBRIDGE’s Stephen Murray had a double success in Galway greyhound track on Friday night.

The Novice 525 yards fifth contest at Galway Greyhound Track on Friday night last went in impressive fashion to the Eoin Clancy of Kilrush owned Bayview Fred who led from traps on his way to a seven and three quarter success over Bosra Ava in 29.07. Very smartly into stride the son of Premier Fantasy and Bayview Flyer led Bosra Ava by two lengths approaching the opening end and tracking well the advantage was extended to over five lengths racing towards the halfway mark. Tracking well again out of the back straight Bayview Flyer was in total control as he completed a double of the night for trainer Stephen Murray of Sixmilebridge.

Murray’s double was initiated in the S4 graded fourth contest as Bumblebee Dylan took his career tally to eleven career wins from forty eight outings in this S4 graded contest as he proved one length too good for Barbersfort Nala in a time of 19.40. Away smartly on the wide outside Bumblebee Dylan showed pace from Craoghill Sam on the run towards the opening bend where he led by over a length. Maintaining a wide route the son of Droopys Jet and Gunner Maisie was in control turning for home as he stayed on well to comfortably land the spoils for owner Sam Conlon .

The outcome of the A7 graded 525 yards event was in little doubt form the second bend as the Declan McDonagh of Liscannor trained Wordle powered clear from his toiling rivals to score by five and a half lengths in 29.17. From traps Kittens Sinead was away best towards the inner but rounding the opening bend the ventral winner swept into the lead which was two lengths entering the back straight. Racing along the back straight the Paul Reid and Paul Horig owned daughter of Droopys Sydney and Limini drew further clear with every stride and was an impressive winner from Rockmount Mia and Kittens Sinead at the line.

In race six, the Martin Griffin of Lissycasey owned Room To Stop registered his ninth career victory in this S6 graded contest as he made all to defeat Aulton Mick by two and a half lengths in 19.18. Away smartly from his trap three berth the son of Laughill Blake and Nebraska Scot showed pace to lead his rivals by two lengths approaching the opening bend . Rounding the bend there was some crowding behind as Room To Stop extended his advantage on his way to a comfortable success.

The opening round heats of the €4000 to the winner Galway Greyhound Stadium A3 525 Stake formed the spine of Saturday night’s card at the Collage Road venue. As the taps rose in race four for this S6 graded sprint contest Bumblebee Mojo and Rockandrollmarty were forest to show with Errol Sue also prominent on the wide outside as they raced towards the opening bend. As they reached the opening bend Rockandrollmarty struck the front and despite taking a wide route into the bend the Toi-Toi-Toi. Syndicate owned son of Bull Run Bolt and Togher Blue Leah stayed on well to score by two and a half lengths for the Thomas Connor kennel of Ennistymon in 19.27.

There was racing on Monday evening last at Limerick and there was a quickfire double for litter brother and sister Astro Leah and Astro Blaze, owned by the Feakle contingent of Gary and Damien Pepper, and trained by Tulla’s Donie Duggan, these siblings of Magical Bale and Astro Aoife both recorded their first career success, Leah won in 29.60 for a A8 contest and Blaze stopped the clock in 19.23 for the 350 yards trip.

The concluding race of the evening went to Shannon native Gerry Cooney with Notimetobale, trained by Maurice organ from Tipperary, this son of Magical Bale and Notimetotalk recorded a first career win in 29.57.

Of the twelve races on offer last Thursday night at Limerick, six came home to the Banner. Dardis Whitepaws got the show on the road for Donal and Darren Cooney of O’Callaghans Mills in an A4 contest, a son of Dorotas Wildcat and Urban Fashion, he recorded a fifth career success in 29.38.

Slaheny Ruby justified her favourite tag for Newmarket-on-Fergus’ Peg Lenihan, as she recorded a first career success in 29.47, Peg is a daughter of Good News and Darragh Pet.

Myles Cummins presented Two Pints for Aidan and Seamus Duggan from Quin in an A3 contest, and this son of Paddy’s Magic and Miles Girl ran out an impressive winner by 3 lengths in 29.10 to record his fifth career win.

Noel Moroney from Mullagh entered the winner’s enclosure with Tiermana Den, who recorded a personal best of 29.01, this was career win number four for this son of Magical Bale and Cloneyogan Beaut.

The eleventh race of the evening was a Novice 525 contest and honours went to Miltown Malbay’s Gerry Burke with Malbay Callie, a daughter of Magical Bale and Malbay Ally, she caught the eye with a 11 length victory in 29.27.

An A8 contest was the finale of the evening, the journey home to Ennistymon was a sweet one for Tom Flanagan after Dietary Advise notched his first career success in impressive fashion with a 29.07 run, he is a homebred son of Romeo Recruit and Trembling Juliet.
