Footpaths in Cratloe are in need of cleaning due to problems of slime and moss, an elected representative has said.

At a recent meeting of the Shannon Municipal District, Cllr PJ Ryan (IND) requested that all footpaths in Cratloe be cleaned due to problems of moss and slime on the surfaces. His request was seconded by Cllr Pat O’Gorman (FF).

Council officials will carry out an assessment on the paths, senior engineer Aidan O’Rourke stated. “Where slime and moss is found to be causing risk to pedestrians, arrangements will be made to have this removed”.

Cllr Ryan told the meeting, “this problem became evident with quite a lot of people out walking because of COVID-19”. He described the footpaths in Cratloe as “quite slippy and dangerous”.
