One of the four Clare patients being treated for the coronavirus is a healthcare professional.

On Thursday evening it was confirmed that of the four new cases on the island of Ireland, one of them is a healthcare professional.

Part of a family group that recently travelled to Northern Italy, the male is believed to have come into contact with patients in the past week.

Individuals who were treated by the man are being contacted by the HSE. They have confirmed the process of getting in touch with close contacts of the family group is underway.

As a result of this case, healthcare professionals will now be asked not to return to work for 14 days after travelling to such regions, depending on where they have been.
