Gerry O’Connor has stepped down as joint manager of the Clare senior hurlers, The Clare Echo can exclusively reveal.

Despite speculation that he would return alongside Donal Moloney for a fourth year with the senior hurlers, O’Connor confirmed to The Clare Echo that the 2018 campaign was his last.

First appointed as senior joint managers in October 2016, silverware has eluded the pair at this level apart from the 2019 Munster Senior Hurling League. The duo are undoubtedly the county’s most successful underage management with three back to back All-Ireland and Munster U21 titles secured during their tenure (2012-2014). Prior to that, they were in charge of the minor hurlers who tasted provincial glory in 2010 and 2011.
