CLOONEY/QUIN struck four first-half goals to claim their first win of the 2026 Clare SHC campaign as they comfortably accounted for Feakle.

In a repeat of last year’s quarter-final, Clooney/Quin again came out on top against Feakle, this time increasing their winning margin from nine to sixteen points.
They now move to top spot in Group 3 ahead of the final round where they face O’Callaghans Mills.
It was Feakle who got the opening score of the game through Owen McGann before Jerry O’Connor responded with a brace of sumptuous scores from the stand sideline.
As the first quarter came to a close, Peter Duggan opened his account from play, splitting the posts from range after a one-two from a sideline cut, before Jack O’Neill added his first moments later to put Clooney-Quin 0-7 to 0-3 ahead.
It was smooth sailing from there for last year’s beaten county finalists as they rampaged for four goals in the space of twelve minutes.
Darragh McNamara got the first after Jerry O’Connor produced an exquisite flick over his own head to put the ball into fellow late change McNamara’s path, who duly dispatched to the net.
Two minutes later, Dannan Fox added a second green flag after flicking the ball past Adam Hogan before burying his effort low and hard.
Goals number three and four came within a minute of each other after Peter Duggan caught a Keith Hogan puckout from the clouds before laying off to the onrushing Jerry O’Connor, who blasted past Eibhear Quilligan in the Feakle goal.
Duggan then got in on the goalscoring act himself with the last puck of the opening half, evading the tackle of Killian Bane before rifling the ball into the top right corner.
As the sides headed for the dressing rooms, the scoreboard read 4-11 to 0-7 and the contest already looked beyond the 2024 county champions.
The game struggled to come to life after the interval, with both sides scoring just six points apiece.
Feakle’s Steven Conway and Martin Daly struck scores from play inside the opening five minutes before Jack O’Neill landed a monster score from distance to leave Clooney-Quin 4-14 to 0-10 ahead with just over twenty minutes remaining.
Dannan Fox was the only other Clooney/Quin player to score from play in the second half, adding a brace of points as they saw out a comfortable victory.
John Cahill was among the standout performers for the winners, keeping Feakle sharpshooter Shane McGrath scoreless from play.
Others to impress for Fergal Lynch’s side included Jack O’Neill, Peter Duggan, Dannan Fox, Darragh Keogh and John Conneally.
Before the game, there was a minute silence for Kieran Browne, brother of Clooney/Quin coach Francis and also for Dermot O’Keeffe, father of former Kerry goalkeeper Declan who is actively involved in the Clooney/Quin club.
