ONE of Clare’s most famous clubs have given us a sneak peek at their annual magazine and it looks amazing.

Newmarket-on-Fergus GAA have released their annual magazine, Tradraí, a previous McNamee award winning publication, and it’s one for the GAA and history enthusiasts.

In 2016, James McInerney become only the second Clare man to win the All Ireland Poc Fada Championship, an extensive profile of the Newmarket-on-Fergus man is included in Tradraí. Club referee and Mary Immaculate College lecturer, Rory McGann talks to the magazine following a busy year which saw him take charge of his first Clare SHC final and young members of their club are put ‘In The Round’ to give their views. An account of Newmarket’s 1916 championship success is also included.

This year’s editorial committee is comprised of Con Woods, Paula Carr Whelan, Colm Liddy, Siobhán Marren and Páraic McMahon. For the third year in succession, Tradraí is available for a very modest €5.

Speaking following the release, Editor Páraic McMahon outlined the importance of such publications in Irish life. “GAA and history go hand in hand and both are adored by the people of Ireland. With the Tradraí we do our utmost to document the year that was, by covering the success of teams we are inspiring the next generation. Volunteers are central to our organisation and such is the case with Tradraí through our contributors and sellers”, the Public Relations Officer added.

Copies of Tradraí can be purchased at the following Newmarket-on-Fergus outlets; Spar, Eurospar, Halpin’s Service Station, Reale’s Butchers, O’Neills Bar and The Sports Bar. Crowe’s Gala at the Minister Cross will also be stocking editions.

Arrangements can also be made to pick up a copy by emailing nofgaa@outlook.com or tweeting @NOFGAA.
