*Celebrations kick off for St Joseph’s Spanish Point.
VICTORIOUS St Joseph’s Spanish Point manager, Paul Reidy said their Munster success is “just reward” for the effort displayed by his panel of players.
St Joseph’s Spanish Point claimed the Munster Senior A PPS final on Saturday with a 4-12 3-13 victory over Loreto Clonmel. The West Clare school last won Senior A honours at provincial level in 1997.
Speaking to The Clare Echo, manager and school principal, Paul Reidy stated, “This is a just reward for the effort the girls have put in”.
He added, “The girls have put in huge work over the past three years coming from division C two years ago to division B last year and now capturing the honours at A level. Their commitment to this has been magnificent, training on Sunday evenings and on Tuesday mornings at 7.30am.
“This has been achieved in a school which has only 200 girls. We have had tremendous support which has been a huge help. It’s been marvellous to see girls playing supported by mothers who played for the school in their time there”, the Kilmihil man added.
