STUDENTS at St Joseph’s NS in Miltown Malbay have played their part to assist in preparations for Clare’s senior footballers in Sunday’s Munster final.

A Clare Day was held in the school on Friday where staff and students were decked out in the county colours ahead of the Munster SFC final where Clare take on Kerry for the third year running.

Not alone did students assist kit man Jim Marrinan with placing jerseys on hangars which will be hung in the dressing room of Fitzgerald Stadium, Killarney but they also wrote letters which will be left with the jersey of all twenty six players included in Clare’s matchday panel on Sunday.

Among those to write letters were Susan O’Loughlin, Emily McInerney, Aidan Nugent, Daniel Eustace, Rebecca Foran and Mia Kelly. They penned best wishes for Cormac Murray, Emmet McMahon, Ronan Lanigan, Tristan O’Callaghan and Eoin Cleary.

In their letters, students thanked the Clare players for their commitment, praised them on their skills levels and touched on different aspects that they like about them.

Principal of St Joseph’s NS, Joe O’Reilly told The Clare Echo, “The children in Miltown Malbay are GAA mad. Reaching the Munster Football final is a great achievement for Clare and it’s important that the children and indeed all of Clare get behind our county’s footballers. We are especially proud of Caitlin and Aidan representing the school in the primary game at half time. We also wanted to do something to show our support and belief in this exceptional group of young footballers. Clare football is getting stronger each year and days like these are so important for our young pupils and starts of the future. As a Cavan native, the Breffni Blues will always be number one but I’ve no hesitation in saying Up the Banner”.
