CRATLOE’s Mark McDonagh has bounced back from injury in successful fashion.

McDonagh returned to the saddle at the beginning of May having been sidelined after breaking his shoulder blade which ruled him out of the Punchestown Festival at the end of April. It was a setback for Mark who recorded his first win at the famed Cheltenham Festival earlier this year.

Rides in Tipperary and Downpatrick marked his return to action earlier this month and over the weekend, he tasted success at Killarney on Rockanrye in the Cronin Electrical Mares’ Maiden Hurdle.

Last week at Kilbeggan, Mark gave Tipperary trainer John Ryan another winner as as Bonarc scored a 10-length success in the two-mile handicap hurdle. The 5/1 chance went clear after the final flight to beat Swelltime in fine fashion, a first winner of the new season for the Cheltenham Festival-winning conditional jockey.
