In five championship outings, Aidan has amassed a personal tally of 0-55 which is two more than Danny Russell’s 4-40 while his nearest live competitor is Kilmaley’s Tom O’Rourke who is six points adrift on 0-49.
Éire Óg’s Russell won the award last season capping off a campaign that ended a thirty five year wait for the Townies to lift the Canon Hamilton. Once again it is likely that the championship winners will also pick up the top scorer accolade with the performances of McCarthy and O’Rourke in front of the posts a deciding factor this afternoon.
Remarkably Ballyea have been out of the championship since August 22nd (round three), yet Tony Kelly’s exploits in front of goals for their three outings sees him finish as the fourth highest scorer in the 2026 championship. In three games, he scored a sublime 3-34 and of that 1-14 was from play.
An honourable mention is deserved for Inagh/Kilnamona’s David Fitzgerald who prior to the county final has scored 0-18 from play. Marco Cleary of Éire Óg just misses out on the top ten, he bagged six goals across the course of the campaign.
