Sixmilebridge’s old courthouse will continue to be the home for the Sixmilebridge/Kilmurry Men’s Shed Association for the near future.

Approval for Clare County Council to continue to lease the site located on the Lodge Rd which was formerly the Courthouse to the voluntary group was granted at the January meeting of the Shannon Municipal District. Exact terms of the lease including potential fees paid were not disclosed.

Carmel Greene senior executive officer of the Council’s Economic Development Directorate told the meeting that the current arrangement “has been working well”. She noted, “they’ve done a lot of improvements”.

A proposal to extend the lease for another four years and eleven months running until the end of 2026 was backed by Cllr PJ Ryan (IND) and Cllr John Crowe (FG).
