KILRUSH Community Garda Eoin Daly is on a mission to raise funds for West Clare mental health charity Happy Feet Happy Minds.

The local organisation provides mental health support services for young adults in the region.

Eoin was prompted to raise money for Happy Feet Happy Minds following a recent local tragedy.

โ€œBecause of knowing so many people in the area and because of the recent local tragedy and because itโ€™s a great service to West Clare specifically, I thought that Iโ€™d start up this online link and itโ€™s going well,โ€ he said.

He plans to run the Dublin Marathon in October.

His gofundme page raised over โ‚ฌ1,000 within the first 24 hours of going live and Eoin hopes to smash his target of โ‚ฌ5,000.

He has vowed to do some form of training every day between now and taking on the marathon, whether itโ€™s walking running, cycling, hitting the gym or swimming.

Eoin is very involved in the local community, training the under 6, under 7 and under 8 Moneypoint soccer team.

โ€œMental health can affect everyone. You never know whatโ€™s on someoneโ€™s mind, you never know how far away it is. It could be your own family. Friends can suffer with it,โ€ Eoin added.
