KILMURRY IBRICKANE are on course to claim a second senior ladies football championship after producing a strong second half to overcome Liscannor.

Kilmurry Ibickane 1-16
Liscannor 1-8
Venue: Captain Tubridy Park, Kilrush

After a year’s absence from the decider, Kilmurry Ibrickane have been the form team, producing an unbeaten run in this year’s championship, the latest seeing them come from behind to overcome an always spirited Liscannor outfit.

Playing with the wind, Liscannor carved out a three point lead by the interval but a big push arrived from the Bricks on the restart which put them on their way to a second county final appearance in three years.

Helping Kilmurry Ibrickane power in front was their ability to kick two pointers, they landed a total of three in the second half, Chloe Moloney with a brace and the hard-working midfielder Ciara McCarthy also chipping in with one.

Roisin Considine put Liscannor into the lead when converting a free and by the tenth minute they had raided for goal, Marie Egan was found in space by Considine and Bláthnaid Reynolds to allow her blast to the net.

Two fine Sinead Considine scores plus another from Roisin Considine add Liscannor four clear but Kilmurry Ibrickane reduced the arrears to three by the break with Kayla Darcy teeing up the returning Ellie Hanrahan to kick over her third score of the opening half.

Moloney with two frees early in the second half cut the gap back to one but Liscannor responded with Sinead Considine.

In a defining period of the game, Kilmurry Ibrickane raided for 1-6 in ten minutes. Ciara McCarthy’s long range delivery was caught in the sky by Moloney, she turned and rattled Áine Burke’s net. Chloe then added a two pointer free with McCarthy doing likewise from play to give the West Clare side their biggest advantage, a five point lead.

There would be no stopping David O’Brien’s side from here, the crowd was in full voice, Moloney added another three points with McCarthy kicking for her third point.
