ENNIS’ Joe Collins has been appointed as the new manager of West Utd.
A two-time Oscar Traynor winner with Clare in 2016 and 2017, Collins has taken charge of his former club who commenced pre-season training last week.
Subsequent to his time with Donie Garrihy’s side and Ennis Town FC, Joe represented both Galway Utd and Treaty Utd in the League of Ireland.
His move to Galway followed a successful two-year playing stint with West Utd and he linked up with former teammate Alan Murphy who was manager of the Tribesmen.
Collins left Treaty in November 2022, he made 44 appearances which included two assists and scored one memorable goal that saw Treaty United defeat Cork City at Turners Cross in July 2021.
From here, he moved to Barcelona and played at a semi-professional level. The thirty two year old returned to Galway three years ago where he joined a very successful Salthill Devon Junior Team and played his last game for Salthill in their recent Connacht Cup Final Win.
