Clare’s Jo Keane has missed out on a place in the European U20 Athletics Championship Final.

On Thursday, the Ennis Track runner qualified comfortably for the semi-finals finishing her heat in a time of 2:09:28 securing a third place finish.

As was expected, Friday’s semi-final in Sweden proved to be a tougher challenge and the St Flannans student finished the 800m in 2:13:51, Britain’s Isabelle Boffey was home in 2:05:22.

At the end of June, Jo recorded her personal best 400m indoors, clocking in at 0:57:36 in Athlone. Last year, she qualified for the World U20 semi-finals in 800m.
