Five new cases of COVID-19 have been diagnosed in Clare with the county having the tenth lowest 14 day incidence rate in the country.

Notification of 47 more deaths related to the virus were issued to the Health Protection Surveillance Centre (HPSC) on Wednesday. 14 of these deaths occurred in March, 18 occurred in February and 15 occurred in January. The median age of those who died was 83 years and the age range was 60 – 95 years. There has been a total of 4,499 COVID-19 related deaths in Ireland.

In Clare, five new cases are known while the county has recorded a drop in its 14 day incidence rate with the figure now at 97.6.

Nationally, 631 new cases have been confirmed with 247 in Dublin, 50 in Kildare, 44 in Meath, 41 in Cork, 32 in Limerick and the remaining 217 cases are spread across 20 other counties

Hospital numbers have dropped, 92 persons are in critical care because of the virus, they are included in the tally of 370 individuals in hospital. 31 additional hospitalisations occurred in the past 24 hours.

525,768 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Ireland as of Sunday.
