FUNERAL DETAILS have been announced for Bishop Emeritus of Killaloe, Willie Walsh.

Willie died peacefully but suddenly at his home in Ennis on Wednesday night. He will lie in repose in SS Peter and Paul Cathedral in Ennis on Sunday from 3pm with an evening prayer to follow at 7pm.

Huge crowds are expected to attend his funeral with the mass taking place at 1pm in Ennis Cathedral with burial afterwards in the church grounds.

His career in the priesthood spanned sixty six years, sixteen of which were as Bishop of Killaloe.

A native of Roscrea, Willie is predeceased by his parents Ellen and William, brothers Joe, Eddie and John and his sisters Maura and Catherine. He is dearly loved and sadly missed by his nieces and nephews; Karina, Michael, Emma, Willie, Miriam, Jim, Mark, Liz and Con and their families, sister-in-law Christine, his cousin Fr. Laurence OCSO, the clergy, religious and laity of the diocese of Killaloe and his wide circle of friends.
