Three contests are expected to take place for various positions at Thursday’s Clare GAA Annual Convention.

Joe Cooney (Chairman), Pat Fitzgerald (Secretary), Anne Hayes (Asst Secretary), Michael Gallagher (Treasurer), Tony Brohan (Asst Treasurer) Michael O’Connor (PRO), Flan O’Reilly (Irish & Culture Officer) are all unopposed and look set to be re-elected to their various roles.

There are three nominees for Vice Chairman with the incumbent PJ McGuane of Cooraclare in competition with Ennistymon’s John Fawl and Neil O’Brien who is the current Bord na nÓg Iomaint Chair.

Two members of the backroom team from the first Clare side to win an All-Ireland U21 title are nominated for Games Development Officer, namely Rosaleen Monaghan (Tubber) and Sean O’Halloran (Bodyke).

All-Ireland winning Clare hurler, Niall Gilligan is in the running for one of the two spots as Munster Council Delegate. Even though he has been nominated, PJ Kelly’s five year stint in the role has concluded. Kieran Keating of Naomh Eoin who lives in Sixmilebridge is hoping to stay on. Gilligan, ex county Treasurer Bernard Keane, Tony Brohan, Ger Hickey and John Fawl are all vying for the role.

Robert Frost who previously attempted to become President of the GAA will go up against ex Munster Council CEO Simon Moroney and PJ McGuane in a bid to be elected Central Council Delegate.
