FOUR teams remain in the race for the Pappy Callaghan trophy which was last week, presented to Clare GAA by the O’Callaghans Mills and Bodyke clubs.

The former Clare star played for both clubs during his career. Ogonnelloe booked their place in the last four of this championship with a one point win over Éire Óg at Broadford on Sunday.

Two goals from Cian Fitzgerald Bradley helped the East Clare side to lead 2-8 to 0-7 at the interval in this tie.

Éire Óg dominated the third quarter and fought their way back to level the tie but despite their best efforts they failed to take the lead.

Credit must go to the winner’s defence which was rock solid throughout with Adam, Gearoid and Noah Sheedy forming a solid half back line.

Up front Mici Sheedy led he scoring with 0-7 from frees while others to get on the scoresheet included Barry Kiely, Rory Skelly, Colin Hart, Donnacha McNulty and Noal Sheedy. In the semi-final they will take on Inagh/Kilnamona.

Kilmaley booked their place in the last four with a 1-13 to 0-11 win over O’Callaghans Mills in a game played at Clarecastle. They will take on Smith O’Briens from Killaloe in the semi-final.

Kilmaley led by a goal at half time, 1-5 to 0-5, having played against the breeze. Enda Haren was the goal scorer with eight minutes to go to the half time whistle.

Cian Neyon and Peter Ronan were the team’s main point scorers on the day

Meanwhile Newmarket-on-Fergus will play in junior A next season having lost out by three points (2-12 to 2-15) to Scariff in the intermediate relegation final at Killanena on Sunday.

In the junior A hurling semi-finals Ballyea, following their victory over Clonlara at the weekend will meet their neighbours Clarecastle while the other semi-final will see Clooney/Quin attempt to copy their seniors and get to the final at the expense of Banner who are chasing a hurling and football double as they are in the intermediate football semi-final on this Saturday when they take on Cooraclare.

Ennistymon will again be in Junior A next season having survived a relegation battle with Tulla last weekend.
