A FIXTURES headache is mounting for the Clare District Soccer League (CDSL) with more widespread cancellations across the county due to unplayable pitches.

Only three of the scheduled eight Clare Cup ties will proceed on Sunday morning. In total, only six of the sixteen games fixed for this morning will take place as pitches struggle to deal with the heavy rainfall of recent weeks.

McDonough Memorial Park in Newmarket-on-Fergus continues to enhance its reputation as one of the county’s top grounds. It will host the Clare Cup third round tie between Newmarket Celtic and Shannon Town, a game that was originally fixed for Lynch Park in Shannon.

Both Tulla Utd and Hermitage FC A are heading outside the county for their Cup clash. TUS’ Moylish campus is the setting for their last sixteen encounter.

Also in the third round, Bridge Celtic welcome Shannon Hibs to Bridgetown, a setting that most sides in the county find it difficult to get a result in.

In the Maloney Hardward Premier Division, the meeting of Kilrush Rangers and Bridge Utd in Kilrush is scheduled to proceed for its 11am kick off. In the Boru Sports First Division, Bunratty Cratloe are to welcome Mountshanon Celtic to Bunratty. Kilmihil’s Astro will host the Third Division encounter between Callan Utd and Avenue Utd.

For the second time, the Cup meeting of Fair Green Celtic and Sporting Ennistymon has been called off, the tie was due to be held at Lees Rd. Also in the second round of the Cup, Rhine Rovers and Shannon Town C which had Lees Rd as its venue is pulled as is the meeting of Hermitage B and Ennis Dons B which was down for Tim Smythe Park (the Fair Green).

League leaders Avenue Utd were due to be in Cup action but their third round tie with Connolly Celtic in Roslevan has also been scrapped. Tulla Utd B vs Shannon Town B was another third round fixture to be postponed, The Cragg in Tulla was the venue.

Tiermaclane is unplayable meaning the First Division derby between Fern Celtic and Manus Celtic is a non-runner.

All games in the Brian Pyne Tiles Second Division down for Sunday morning are off. Avenue Utd B were to host Bridge Utd B with Newmarket Celtic C scheduled to face Corofin Harps.

In the Third Division, Shannon Hibs B versus Bridge Utd C is off and in the Ladies League the meeting of Ennis Dons Ladies and Tulla Utd is not going ahead.
