EMMET McMahon is included in a Clare matchday panel for the first time this year with Dermot Coughlan and Eoin Cleary also named among the substitutes for Saturday’s must-win Tailteann Cup encounter.

Clare’s named starting fifteen for Saturday’s Tailteann Cup second round tie against Longford shows one change with captain Cillian Rouine recovered from a flu virus to anchor the heart of the defence. His Ennistymon clubmate Josh Vaughan misses out and drops to the bench as a result.

There is plenty star quality on the bench, McMahon joins the subs for the first time this season, he sustained an anterior cruciate ligament injury for his club last July but has remained an ever-present figure at all of Clare’s games this season.

Dermot Coughlan who has been out of action since March with a groin injury is also back among the substitutes as is his first cousin Eoin Cleary who sustained a hamstring injury in Clare’s Munster semi-final loss to Kerry.

U20 goalkeeper Harry O’Gorman is named on the bench for the first time with Evan Cahill also part of the matchday panel.

Dropping out of the matchday panel for the must-win game are Mikey Tubridy, Morgan Garry, Liam Cotter, Luke Pyne and Tom O’Brien.

Daniel Walsh is the only defender included among the substitutes for Clare, the Kilmurry Ibrickane man has often been utilised at wing forward for the county side.
