*Major upgrade works are to begin at Kilrush Sports Complex.
WORKS worth €241,000 are planned for the Kilrush Sports Complex, including the refurbishment of dressing rooms and new lighting for the cross-country and walking track.
The projects are being progressed by Clare County Council with support from Sport Ireland funding programmes.
The dressing room refurbishment is valued at approximately €145,000 and will provide upgraded changing and shower facilities for clubs and users of the complex.
Clare County Council is contributing 25% of the cost, with the remainder supported through Sport Ireland.
A separate €96,000 project to install lighting along the cross-country and walking track has also been approved, with works expected to commence shortly.
The council is also providing 25% of the funding for the lighting project.
The works are expected to improve the facilities available to teams, athletes, schools, clubs and community groups, while the new lighting will allow the walking and cross-country track to be used throughout the year.
Director of Services for Tourism, Festivals, Libraries and Cultural Services Siobhán McNulty said the Kilrush Sports Complex plays an important role in supporting local clubs, schools and community groups.
“These projects will significantly enhance the facilities available to users, providing modern dressing room amenities and improving year-round access to the walking and cross-country track,” she said.
