€10,000 has been set aside to complete footpath works in Carrigaholt this year.

Under the National Transport Authority’s, Active Travel 2021 grant scheme, funding to the tune of €10,000 to replace footpaths in Carrigaholt village was allocated to Clare County Council. Works are scheduled to be completed this year.

This funding “will go an awful long way in making the village smarter and safer,” Cllr Cillian Murphy (FF) believed. “It is a place where you want to stop now which is great,” the Cathaoirleach of the West Clare Municipal District stated.

“Carrigaholt is unique in many ways, it has the castle, deep sea fishing, the Coláiste, an award winning restaurant but we don’t have a state of the art road on West St which I have asked be put on the agenda. We do need to do work in Carrigaholt, it is jammed with cars and campervans, people want to get out the country,” Cllr Gabriel Keating (FG) commented.
