SIXMILEBRIDGE is a community to be proud of, says Hazel O’Callaghan, owner of KV Hair by Hazel.
Originally from Ennis, O’Callaghan says that establishing her own business in 2023 was one of the biggest milestones of her career but she could not have anticipated the level of support she would receive from the Sixmilebridge community.
“The support that I’ve got from the local community has been quite overwhelming and I’m very grateful for it. I’ve been supported from dot since moving here for which I’m very lucky That support has meant more to me than words can express. The trust people have placed in me, the friendships I’ve built, and the loyalty of my clients have all played a huge part in the success of my business”, the owner highlights.
After qualifying in her profession, O’Callaghan moved to Australia after being sponsored to work there, spending four and a half years managing a hair salon and barber shop, gaining invaluable experience and developing my skills in both hairdressing and barbering. That experience translated well into her Sixmilebridge enterprise in 2023 as the Ennis woman provides a welcoming space where everyone feels comfortable, valued, and leaves looking and feeling their very best.
“To come home years later and be able to bring all of that experience into my very own salon is something I’m incredibly proud of. It’s not just a business to me it’s something I’ve built around my career, my family and my passion for what I do”, O’Callaghan notes.
The owner says that the most enjoyable aspects of the job are the different conservations she has with each client as days can include everything from classic men’s haircuts and the latest skin fades and bobs to long layered trims, colours, highlights, curly blow-dries and up styles.
Family is to the core of KV Hair by Hazel, even giving the business its name as O’Callaghan explains that “The K represents my son, Koda, and the V represents my daughter, Vogue. Running a business while being a mother can certainly be challenging, but being a mum is the most important role I will ever have. Everything I’m building is not only something I’m passionate about, but something I hope my children can be proud of too”, she adds.
The hairdresser reiterates her gratitude to the customers and members of the community who have supported her since opening, saying “I want to thank every person who has walked through my door, recommended my business, or simply stopped for a chat. Your support has helped turn a dream into a reality and I’ll always be grateful for that”.
