Cooraclare put themselves in a strong position to reach the semi-final of the Garry cup (division 2) when they defeated their neighbours Kilmihil in round 6 at Kilmihil on Tuesday evening.

Venue: St Michael’s Park, Kilmihil

The visitors enjoyed the better of the opening half exchanges and they led by five points at half time when the score was 0-8 to 0-3.

Kilmihil did well in the third quarter and managed to draw level, helped by a goal from Martin O’Leary and points from Ciaran Downes.

Cooraclare regained the initiative and with some good points from Jack Morrissey they powered on to a good win, a result which moves them above Kilmihil on the league table.

A win over Wolfe Tones in their final group game on Bank Holiday Monday will see them into the semi-final of a competition which commemorates former club stalwart, the late Michael Garry.
