A con-man pretending to be a doctor took a sum of a money from an elderly homeowner in Tiermaclane on Monday last.

Shortly after 5pm last Monday evening, a male called to the home of an elderly gentleman in Drumquin, Tiermaclane. He identified himself as a doctor and as he examined him he took a sum of money in cash out of the homeowner’s pocket.

Gardaí have said that a car which they believe to be a black Volkswagen Passat was seen “acting suspiciously” in the area around this time.

They have appealed to anyone that was in Drumquin between 4:30pm and 5:30pm and saw this car or has dash cam footage to contact Ennis Garda Station on 0656848100.
