AN POST have confirmed that they will be releasing a stamp to honour Coastguard volunteer Caitriona Lucas and the crew of the Rescue 116 helicopter.

The commemorative stamp topics were recently approved by Cabinet and work has now begun on the designs.

An online campaign had requested Caitriona’s painting of a Coastguard helicopter to be printed on a stamp.

It is not yet clear if Caitriona’s paintings will feature, or if the stamp will be created from a photograph or other medium.

However, a spokesperson for An Post confirmed that at least two stamps will be produced.

The stamps will be released in 2019, but the exact date has not been announced.

It is likely however that the release date will coincide with a meaningful date such as the anniversary of Caitriona’s passing.
