REPAIR WORKS have been confirmed for two ‘significantly damaged’ bends in Clonlara.

Drawing of material for works associated with the Springfield flood defence scheme had an impact on drainage in Clonlara, Cllr Michael Begley (IND) noted. He called for “blocked drains” at Heffernan’s Bend on the L-3050 from Clonlara to Doonass and also at Humphries Bend on the L-3058 between Mountcatherine Bridge and Connors Cross to be cleared.

Senor executive engineer with the Shannon Municipal District, Tom Mellett advised that repair works were granted following an assessment of both locations.

“Those two bends were damaged significantly with the drawing of material to the Springfield flood defence scheme. The two road gullies were filled with muck and stone from the edge of the road,” Begley stated. His proposal was seconded by Cllr PJ Ryan (IND).
