A redraw will have to take place for the Clare SFC.

An error was made by County Board officials at Monday’s draw whereby stipulations that the group in the Clare SFC with two seeded teams would be Group 1 as it was a group of five.

However during the draw, county champions Éire Óg and St Breckans were placed in Group 4 where they were joined by Cratloe and Corofin.

County secretary Pat Fitzgerald tried to alert Chairman Kieran Keating to the blunder as the draw was ongoing but his efforts to communicate were unsuccessful.

Keating in an email to clubs on Tuesday morning confirmed that the draw would be redone at the May meeting of the County Board (May 10th).

“Before drawing the four seeded teams for the three groups, I pulled one of three canisters to determine which group the fourth seeded team would join, i.e. which group would have two seeded teams. I should have checked my notes, as we had already stipulated in our regulations adopted just last week that the group of five (group one) must have the second seeded team,” the Chairman stated.

Keating added, “The Runaí did try to alert me to my error but as we were live streaming I ploughed on with it, not understanding that we had already set this out in the regulations, thus the process I applied was out of order”.

Pairings for the other five draws completed on Monday evening remain.
