CLARE’S Senior Hurling Championship is now at the business end, with eight parishes duking it out in the quarter finals of arguable the most competitive county in the country.
This Saturday, the quarters get underway at Zimmer Biomet Páirc Chíosóg with Clooney-Quin taking on Scariff as intercounty stars such as Peter Duggan and Ryan Taylor go head to head with young gun Mark Rodgers and his even younger brother Paul. That double header will be followed by the wily Cratloe men, who take on Inagh-Kilnamona.
On Sunday, many people’s favourites for Canon Hamilton, Éire Óg will do battle with Wolfe Tones of Shannon, before arguably the contest of the weekend takes place between star-studded Clonlara against unbeaten Kilmaley.
TG4 will have that last tie televised, with coverage starting at 4:20pm.
For those not in Doonbeg or protesting the visit of Donny, what better way to enjoy a Sunday afternoon than watching some high-class hurling between the likes of Conor Cleary, who lines out at full forward for his club side, and his intercounty compadre John Conlon.
