CO CLARE recorded its warmest temperature of the year to date on Wednesday.

Shortly before 4pm on Wednesday, the Met Éireann weather station at Shannon Airport recorded a temperature of 25 degrees, this was just 0.8 degrees Celsius off the all-time April record set by the Glenties in Donegal in 1984.

Mark Dunphy of weatheire.com told The Clare Echo, “Temperatures for Friday through the Bank Holiday Weekend will range from 11°C to 16°C, coolest in the north and warmest in the south of the country.

“It will remain predominantly dry through to the end of next week, although scattered showers may drift down across Ireland on a north to northeasterly flow from Saturday onward. Overall conditions up to and including next weekend will be drier than normal, with well below average rainfall totals. Sunshine will be plentiful, but it will turn hazy at times, especially over the weekend”.

Nationally, the highest recorded temperature today (Wednesday) was 25.5C in Newport, Co Mayo
