For the second day in a row, less than five new cases of COVID-19 are known in Co Clare.

A continued decline in the county’s 14 day incidence rate per 100k of the population has been observed. The figure is now at 57.2, the Health Protection Surveillance Centre confirmed making it the fifth lowest in the country.

There are 557 new cases nationally with 229 in Dublin, 58 in Kildare, 34 in Donegal, 31 in Meath, 24 in Tipperary and the remaining 181 cases are spread across all other counties.

An additional 17 deaths related to the virus are known, 9 of which occurred in March, 4 in February with the remaining four in January or earlier. The median age of those who died was 81 years and the age range was 51 – 94 years.

Hospital numbers have dropped again. As of 8am on Wednesday morning, 83 persons were in critical care on account of COVID-19, they are included in the tally of 350 hospitalised of which 19 were admitted in the past 24 hours.

Latest vaccine data from NPHET has indicated that 164,496 persons have received both doses.
