CLARE Older People’s Council, in association with the Age Friendly Programme of Clare County Council, are seeking nominations from organisations or individuals in County Clare for the Clare Older People’s Volunteer of the Year Award.

The nominee chosen will receive his/her award from Dr Michael Harty TD at the award ceremony in the Woodstock Hotel, Ennis, on Tuesday September 25, as part of National Positive Ageing Week.

This is the fifth year that Clare Older People’s Council are organising the event, aimed at showcasing the important contribution that older people make to the lives of their local communities.

Far from being a burden to society, older people volunteering their skills, time and expertise is critical to the success of many voluntary organisations nationwide.
